ebInterface

In short

The Austrian XML standard for structured electronic invoices.

· General information, not tax advice.

ebInterface is an XML format for electronic invoices developed in Austria. A structured e-invoice can be processed by software without anyone having to read it — unlike a PDF.

Suppliers of Austrian federal authorities must send electronic invoices; ebInterface or UBL 2.1 are accepted, submitted through the Business Service Portal or the Peppol network. A general obligation for invoices between businesses does not exist in Austria yet.

In Germany, XRechnung and ZUGFeRD are the common formats. Under the EU’s ViDA package, structured e-invoices will be required for cross-border B2B trade from July 2030.
