Reports
Projects & categories
A project groups everything that belongs to one job or undertaking, for example a website relaunch. A category groups expenses or income under a heading of your own, for example trade fair costs. Saldek comes with standard categories that you can rename.
Manage projects and categories
- Open the account menu at the top right, select “Settings”, then “Projects & categories”.
- Select “New project”, or for categories “Add expense category” or “Add income category”, enter a name, and select “Create”.
- Use “Rename” to change a name; it changes in all bookings and reports. A renamed standard category gets its original name back with “Use standard name”.
- Use “Archive” to stop offering a project or category for selection. Existing bookings keep the assignment; “Restore” brings it back.
Assign projects and categories
- Documents: In the review view, choose a project and a category on the “Project & category” card. Your choice is saved at once and applies to the document’s booking. For a posted document, the assignment is shown read-only.
- Sales invoices: In the invoice form, choose the “Project” you are invoicing; a recurring copy keeps it.
- Manual entries: With “Create” › “Record entry”, choose a category for each line and, once there are active projects, a project. The categories offered follow the line’s account.
- Bank, cash, tax, receivable, and payable lines carry no project or category; only income and expenses are analysed.
Analyse
Under “Reports”, the “Projects” tab appears once there is a project, and the “Categories” tab once a posted line carries a category. They show income, expenses, and result per project, and the amounts per category.
Frequently asked questions
Can I delete a project or a category?
No. Archive it instead: it is no longer offered for selection, and bookings that already carry it keep the assignment.
Who can create projects and categories?
People with the “Accountant”, “Admin”, or “Owner” role. People with the “Member” role or higher can see both lists.
Why don’t I see the “Categories” tab in the reports?
The tab appears once a posted line carries a category. Assign a category to documents or entry lines and post them.
